Do you ever worry you might scratch your TJ up when off-roading?

Is there something thin and not textured that, if you stripped the tub down to bare metal, that you could spray on that's abrasion resistant like a bedliner that you could then paint to look like a normal Jeep? This way even if you did get some trail rash it'd just need a little paint touch-up and not have to worry about rust.
 
Did it ever occur to this person that the thing they are building a roll cage around has ,uh , a roll cage ?

How do things like this even happen?

Looks like photoshop. Front D-rings look funky, as does the 'attachment" to the front bumper.
I do Photoshop and after looking closely at it believe it's real. Plus the fact I've seen crazy exterior designs like that on several Jeeps, most often XJs but one Wrangler with not quite as much as above. .
