Dome light issue after new radio install

I bought my 2001 TJ, radio didn’t work, at that time the dome light worked correctly, I removed the radio, put a new one in, used a different power source, now the dome light only works with the ignition in the on position.

Any ideas?

It sounds like there may be an issue with the wiring or connections related to the dome light. When you installed the new radio, you may have unintentionally disconnected or damaged the wiring for the dome light. It's also possible that the new power source you used for the radio is somehow interfering with the dome light's circuit.

One thing you could try is to check all of the dome light's connections and wiring to see if anything looks out of place or damaged. You could also check the radio's wiring to make sure it's not causing any interference.

Something I forgot to add, the Jeep had a aftermarket radio in it, and the radio I put in was aftermarket as well, the only wires I used from the harness were speaker wires, I did however have to put a orange and yellow and red wire back together and all wired together so the Jeep would stop saying on the dash “ no fuse”. I believe the orange wire would have been for the light in the original radio.

I know that the radio in our 4 runner is the king of the wiring jungle. I don’t understand how the dome light worked through the aftermarket radio with it not working.
