Double cardan centering ball grease?

I'm replacing the u-joints in my front driveshaft, and I have the old grease cleaned out of the centering ball, and I'm wondering what type I should replace it with?

It's not fussy. Red Chrysler compatible grease like is available in tubes from Valvoline, Lucas Red 'n Tacky, etc. are all fine. I guess Lucas Red 'n Tacky would be in 1st place in terms of desirability but Valvoline or similar name-brand is of course a very good choice too.

You have to pull the skid plate and the front driveshaft in order to grease the front CV ball. I tried for a while to grease it without dropping the skid or the driveshaft, but it is damn near impossible. It isn't that hard to do it the right way. Just put a jack under the transmission, unbolt the skid plate, pull the driveshaft, grease the CV ball, and bolt everything back up. Use a bit of blue loctite on the 8 driveshaft bolts (although you could probably just take out the 4 bolts at the transfer case side).

Should only have to do this every 3000 or so miles. I would try to do it after every oil change. Should only take a half hour or so. Take greasing the CV ball pretty seriously. I had a CV ball go bad once due to a lack of grease. It is annoying but doable.
