Downside to running without windows most of the time

Andy, I've driven in some ridiculous storms with only the soft top up and hardly any water gets inside. It's great the girl I was with before I left for NY loved the adventure largely because she was barely wet even though we were surrounded by absolute mayhem.

One hack for keeping water out of the trunk area when crawling in heavy rain is to run a dog divider for a sedan from the top of the back seat to the top of the tail gate. The water ramps down and onto the ground. I only tried that method because I already had the divider...works fantastic for a TJ.

I like no windows in safari mode with my Bestop duster

You guys are all soft.

I’d like to think you yelled that to everyone right before you launched your rig into orbit on the beach run.

Total your Jeep. Tub and frame swap in eight days in a gravel driveway. Drive topless to Vancouver Island in Canada and home down the WABDR. In a heatwave. My then 79 year old father makes y'all look like wimps. =)

Impressive, but this is more of an example of getting shit done that needs to be done.

If you truly loved building it outside in the driveway, you would have taken longer to complete it. :D

Yes - as long as something is over ya you do pretty good....i made the mistake of removing the entire top one summer.

I've been hot, cold, and wet. Sometimes, all in the same trip.
Nowadays, I tend to leave my full doors on when topless.
When I need a break, I roll the windows up.

Sounds like some of you need a Tahoe. I've driven many a long trios with no top or doors. Hot or cold rain or shine I loved every minute of it. Even when it's raining I don't really get wet as most of it is blown over me due to the aerodynamics. Just get a good misting. I'd say the only downside is trying to keep a cigarette lit.

The worst part for me is needing to cover the Jeep when it’s sitting exposed all day/night to the rain. This is usually a monsoon season issue, and I’m used to it.

That minor inconvenience is well worth the sense of freedom. I spent 15 years on a motorcycle and this provides a similar feeling that feeds my soul.

I'll buy a commuter car once it makes sense to do so. For now, I’m soaking up what may be my best days.

I've gotten in the habit of putting the top up (minus side windows and back window rolled up) every time I park. Better safe than sorry.

My side windows are collecting dust in storage and I don’t own a back window. I keep the top up unless I’m driving as fireworks go off on July 4th or I’m out under the stars.

I run just a bikini top and half doors, it’s been that way for 10 years. Nothing else gets installed.

I’ve go on a lot of long road trips like this, longest being over a 1,000 miles.

Sometimes it can be brutal, but I still love every minute of it. To me it’s what a Jeep is all about.

My first Jeep was a CJ7 back in 95. It had a hard top, the first hint of warm weather it came off and never went back on until the snow started flying.

Half doors with uppers in your snow pic...I bet you don't even bypass you heater core in the winter. Pfff what a poser.

Hahaha, uppers go on for winter storage. Yea. It’s stored all winter. One thing about the TJ is its amazing heat! Can’t be said about all the CJ’s I had back in the day.

I view jeeps sorta like a motorcycle. The joys of it are being in the elements. Good bad and indifferent.

I've seen a few doorless/topless jeeps at the ski slopes around here when it's 10 degrees and snowing. Must suck when all that snow on the seat melts and becomes wet

Funny how riding the motorcycle in the rain, snow or extreme cold was like a manly challenge and a hoot :p . In the jeep it feels like its just wrong and I'm asking for a bunch of electrical problems. Recon that comes from submerging a FJ40 years ago.
