Is there any affordable scan tool that functions like a Mopar DRB3 tool that I can get my cam sensor 100% in sync? I’m in the process of rebuilding my engine and I did the “toothpick” in the hole method as the FSM says. On my previous engine I did this and it ran ok but while I had it at the dealership with a different issue they still had to turn it to get it to 0. On the engine I’m rebuilding I marked the block with the sensor at tdc at the top of the compression stroke as the FSM says. I did this before I disassembled the engine. To my knowledge this sensor has never been moved since it was assembled from the factory. Now that I am reassembling the engine and put the compression stroke is at TDC the holes don’t quite line up when I line up my marks from when I took the engine apart. I had to turn the cam sensor housing to a point that it would retard the timing of the cam sensor a little. So I’m curious if there is a tool besides finding a high dollar DRB3 tool that will allow me to sync the cam sensor without having to take my Jeep to the dealer. I’d rather pay twice the price of what it would cost at a dealer to have a tool that I can have for repeated use but don’t want to pay $3200 for a mopar tool.

I got this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XK1P8ZT/?tag=wranglerorg-20
It will read the phasing between the cam sensor and the crank sensor. It allowed me to get it set very accurately. It has a ton of features, such as relearn, which I have used for the OPDA and for my 42RLE, you can do a battery disconnect without having to physically disconnect the battery, and much more. I've only scratched the surface of it's capabilities. I'm sure I'll learn more as time goes on, and problems crop up. I'd buy it again.

I know the thinkdiag2 will do the 05-06, not sure about the 00-04.

There's also the option of the drb3 emulator, if you search that on the forum you can find a thread with instructions and links for setting that up.

I purchased the think diagram tool to do mine, they have a number to call to verify it will work with the earlier models. It connects to your cell phone. It took about 2 minutes to sync the cam crank sensors. It was around $100

It's a little more money but if I had it to do over again I'd probably go with the foxwell. I'm not a fan of needing my phone to use the thinkdiag2. I've also actually heard of foxwell and had one of their scanners with BMW specific software and it did everything I needed to do on the car I bought it for.

Yes, I thought the think was a regular scanner not to use on a phone. When I looked at it on line it has 2 models one just a plug in the one I got had a cord and box attached. It did do the job I needed. Cost less than a trip to the dealer.

Do you know if you’re able to program new keys with this tool? I only have one SKIM key currently and would like the ability to also add/delete keys.

I don't know. I went and checked the scanner, and it does seem to have a function for SKIM. What capabilities that function has, I have no clue. I don't have SKIM, and when I choose that function, I get a message of "No Data Available".
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Topdon AD900BT seems to be able to do what the DRB3 can do with the 2006 TJ with NGC3 PCM.
With knowing the SKIM Pin I was able to program a new key and set up a spare used PCM with my TJ's vin, skim and keys.

Is that a recognized and well supporter brand? I'd have a hard time spending that much coin on some nameless Chinesium. Especially considering my current DRB3 emulator setup cost me under $200.

Yes, Topdon has been around since 2017 and are well supported here in Australia.
