Hey everybody, I have a problem with my driver's side door on my 2000 Sarah. Its fine when opened with the key, its when I take a ride and I try to get out the lock/unlock button freezes up along with inside door handle. Passengers side is fine. Anybody have a solution. It started once the battery went dead. Please help a newbie figure this out.

L J it does not have aftermarket power door locks. It bone stock. It only started happening once the battery died. I read somewhere to take the positive and negative wires and touching them together. Does that make any sense?
If that's the case the battery has nothing to do with it because the OEM lock and door levers are mechanical not electrical. The lock and door levers are connected with rods. The rods have small plastic fittings (known to break) that connect them to the lock and door handle and latch mechanism. You'll have to pop the panel off the door and have a look.
This makes no sense whatsoever.
The battery has NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER over the door locks... NONE.
The only way your battery would have anything to do with the door locks would be if you have an aftermarket alarm system (or aftermarket power door locks).
If you don't have any of that, than I'm having a very hard time understanding what the battery has to do with any of this.
Is it possible someone installed an aftermarket alarm (the previous owner) that is causing your doors to automatically lock when you drive it?
If so, that's not factory, and I would suggest removing the alarm system (and the lock actuators) entirely.

No problem. It may be worth pulling the door panel as well. Like I said, there's a chance the previous owner installed an alarm or something that is automatically locking the doors. It's certainly not unheard of, but definitely not factory.
