Hope I labeled that right.
But here's the deal.
99 jeep wrangler tj sport
Transfer case
Model # 231 J
Assy # 5209 9211
Serial # 7 24 98 2
Ratio # 272
Ok I guess let me start from the beginning with this headache.
Jeep lost 4lo after he pulled a truck.
The rear end had to be pulled apart and have all the gears replaced inside.
We had it on the road and he was running it in 4hi when the rear went out because it wouldn't move in 4lo or without the 4x4 engaged.
Now I thought we were only going to have to replace the transfer case as it blew to peices coming off the interstate.
After talking to a shop they said they can guarantee that the front drive shaft is bent or locked up.
Im so lost here. I try to find a transfer case and I find a whole bunch of mumbo jumbo about how these things work but no actual guide to what we need.
Im assuming we need a long shaft transfer case. As this is a manual.
Does the assembly number matter. ???
Im trying to keep from spending $500 on a transfer case... and another $300 on a drive shaft.
