Hi All,

Last night was shootin' the breeze with a buddy (mechanical engineer) who has a TJ SE. We were talking about work I have been doing on my TJ and the subject of torque values came up. I mentioned that I use Anti-seize to help reduce the chances of dealing with stuck and corroded bolts and nuts. He asked if I reduced the amount of torque I apply when using anit-seize or lube "wet torque". He mentioned that it was generally accepted that you reduce the torque by approximately 25% when you use lube or anti-seize. Well of course as soon as we were done talking I jumped on the inter web and found a plethora of info regarding this subject. My question is does anyone reduce the amount of torque applied to fasteners on your TJ when using anti-seize? Attached is a document I found on antiseize.com.

Yes I definitely reduce the ft-lbs. value by 20-25% if what I'm tightening has any kind of a lubricant on its threads like Loctite or antiseize. It makes sense if you think about it since the lube makes it easier to pull the wrench handle to achieve the required clamping force.

Thanks guys - for your replies. I now know that I have previously over torqued some of my stuff.
