Ever see an air filter like this?

You guys ever see an air filter with a gauze pre filter ???

Done a lot of these filters and never seen this type, it might be brilliant to keep bigger chunks away from the finer media ORRRRR it may just restrict flow …

This Jeep had all sorts of weird parts, track bar with a brand stamp I can’t find and never heard of, the thermostat was some French thing and now this filter …

I’ve seen those before. Napa filter 26081 is the same.

Looks pretty clean. I would whack the dust off and re-use it. Shouldn't have been too wet in Feenicks.

There ya go. The 6081 on the filter probably indicates it’s the same NAPA you mentioned … I’ve always bought fram or wix.

Typically I do that with a “normal” filter. This one is post “whack”… the gauze material was saturated with fine dust but the rest of the filter looks clean …

I already bought the filter, it’s getting swapped … a drop in the bucket with all the other parts I am installing;

Rear main seal
Front crank seal
Timing cover seal
Oil pan gasket
Oil pump
Timing chain
Radiator
Condenser
AC pump
All new AC lines
Hoses
Blah blah blah

I’ve had 2 JTs, but none long enough to change a filter, one gas and one diesel.

Perhaps this style is in fact a good design … I’ll keep in mind next go around.

Mine had one of those in it when I bought it. At 127 K miles, it may have been the original one!
