Exhaust Fitment

First post here as I couldn't find the answer.

I've got a 2000 TJ and have found a great deal on a new Flowmaster 2049170 front exhaust from the manifold to the muffler. It says it fits the 04-06 only but I don't see a difference from my 2000. Mine has the 3 cats on it as well.

Anyone know if it will fit my 2000? Thanks in advance.

From what I have read but can not confirm is the mounting points changed in 2004. If you have a welder or access to one I’ve read you can cut the hanger brackets off the exhaust, bend and re-weld them to where they need to be.

Hopefully someone who has actually purchased an 04-06 system and installed them on earlier years can provide greater detail?

I’d like to know what is considered a good deal on the flowmaster system? I’ve heard of some folks having issues with them lining up with the manifold l. I’ve heard and spoke to people that say the magnaflow system is the best mini-cat system.

Personally I purchased the cheapest system available on eBay $125.00, they are cheap and my front driveshaft smashes into the down pipe (or did until it bent it in enough to clear). But overall for the price it’s been worth it. And I’ve had zero issues no check engine lights and no issue passing emissions.

It is brand new and they are asking $250 for it. That's the cheapest I've found all 3 cats and piping for.

I stumbled across it on Marketplace. I've been getting an intermittent O2 sensor/cat code pop up. If this will fit I'll install it and new O2 sensors.

At that price it’s worth trying, it will only have one hanger bracket and that is at the back half of the pipe near the third cat. I believe it should bolt up to the exhaust manifold no problem. Worse case you buy it, it won’t fit and you resale it. Did you ask the seller why they never installed it? Did they happen to try installing it on an older TJ and found there to a be fitment issue or something else? That’s what I’d ask but even at $250.00 it’s cheaper than taking a family of four out to a nice dinner.

That's what I was thinking as well. Even for that price, an exhaust shop could modify the hanger bracket and make it work; I'd think.

Yeah and exhaust shop or you can modify it to fit with a welder.

I've got a 97 and it's a lot simpler...I made my own with stainless pipe and a Magnaflow cat.
