Hello all, I am new to this forum so forgive me if I’m wrong about anything. I’ve had my tjr since June and since I’ve got it, I’ve been wanting to upgrade the exhaust. I’ve been looking at either a banks monster exhaust or a flowmaster super 44. Any ideas? I don’t want it to drone if I have the hardtop on and I don’t want it to be loud when I have the top off. Thanks!

What are your goals with the exhaust modifications? Horsepower? Tone? Ground clearance?

Without major engine modifications (e.g., forced induction) a high flow exhaust will likely only provide marginal benefit to power and fuel economy

The goal is just the tone. I hate how quiet it is. I have plenty of clearance. I’d also be shocked if any of these add any significant horsepower numbers, so I’m not super worried about horsepower.

I did the pacesetter cat back on my stroker, throaty when you get on it, not a lot of drone on the highway.

From listening to YouTube videos I’d say the banks sounds the best but even the banks doesn’t really sound good. 6cyl just doesn’t sound very good with exhaust. If I ever change my exhaust not sure what muffler I’ll get yet but I’ll probably also replace the rear cat with the longest glass pack that will fit in its place

I too hated how quiet mine was when I bought it. So had the stock muffler cut out and installed a super 44 .
I've been happy with the results and I can hear it now and it's not obnoxiously loud.
I run with a hard top most of the time and get no droning sound at all.

I prefer the sound of the Banks Monster Muffler, it sounds ever better with the cats removed. But I am young and prefer the exhaust being loud and throaty.

The 4.0L sounds amazing in my opinion and even better with teh Banks on it.

+ 1 for flowmaster. I’ve run both the delta 40 and the super 44 and loved them both. The delta 40 is great for daily driving, deep and throaty with that burble when you down shift. I found the super 44 on the louder side, not in a bad way, just louder than the delta. I didn’t mind because it was more of a fun vehicle, but I could see it interrupting conversation. Both mufflers held up to New England winters.
