Fittings won't take grease

I have a couple of fittings, end links, control arm bushings, etc. that won't take grease, even though the fittings are clear.

Is the best solution, same as it used to be, heat the grease area until it accepts grease?

I've never heard of using heat? Have you tried one of those zerk rammer bammer thingys?things?

I've also found that moving the joint around that I'm trying to grease helps. In other words totate the joint to and fro and then try to grease

Thanks Pman, yes tried the joint rotation thing where possible. Yeah, my Dad always used heat, it softens the grease in most cases. No, haven't tried a zerk rammer.

Sometimes you can remove the zerk and clean some hardened grease out with a pick.
Spray some Corrosion-X, PB Blaster or whatever your favorite snake oil is in there and start working it around moving the joint.
You might get it to take grease that way.
I'd be reluctant to use heat in most situations, you'll wreck whatever seal, shield or boot that is there.

After you get it to take grease modify your maintenace schedule to more often than whatever it's been up until now.

Fitting is OK, all but a couple of fittings took grease.

Yes, I agree too much heat would be trouble, I'm thinking just enough to liquify the old hardened grease. I'm thinking heat gun, no open flame

Ep poly non synthetic grease.. is what a guy at a event told me to use on Johnny joints cause I had the same issue.. haven’t tried it yet but may help!

The Johnny joints are known for not taking grease through the bolt zerk.
Disassembly is recommended.

Update- heat gun did the trick to get fittings to accept grease, didn't take much.

Johnny joints are built to tight tolerances- I’ve wondered if John ever considered some soft edged grooves in the ball or the bushing to distribute and hold grease.
