I just changed my transmission fluid in my 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0. I was told that filter change would take roughly 4 quarts to fill trans pan. I have 5 quarts in it, hot, level, shifted gears, etc. but it is still just barely on the dipstick. Why?

Wasn't low. We bought Jeep in Az. so here in Mi. it gets put up every winter. It was 118,000 miles so while it was in storage I decided to change. I dropped the pan and let it set for a few days draining. Bought kit from NAPA and changed and put back together. No leaks. So....

Make sure you are checking the ATF level with the engine running and the transmission in Neutral. If you are add ATF+4 until it shows full. Better to be a little over filled than under filled where an automatic transmission is concerned.
