Frame rust

You will definitely need the Safety cap or pocono metal craft pieces to fix this. I went with Pocono and am very happy. Just do your due diligence on who you get to cut out and weld in the new pieces.
I was in the same boat as you and it sucked to find out what I needed done, but it is far behind me and the caps work great.

Order one of these and have a good look for yourself. I found a pin hole near my front control arm mount that would’ve been a lot worse if I waited until it was visible from the outside.

Thanks for all the advice. I do not weld but have a good friend who owns a garage and I’m sure this is something he would do. Especially if I ordered the parts. I’m guessing I need the full frame on both sides. Anything else I need to get so that I can get this done all at once?

I’ll grab one of those cameras now!

Grab the camera and have your buddy go over it with you and determine what is salvageable. Then make your purchase from there. They sell different configurations for whatever you need.

Even if the frame looks “good” you can find this much flaking rust on it. Mine was “good” until it wasn’t. Was looking at some rust and decided to see how bad it really was. Five minutes later no more flaking Came off. This is why I hate conventional cheap undercoating. Some people spray it to hide rust.

If you’re gonna be cutting up and welding the frame just do the whole thing on both sides. Torque boxes need to get done as well.
