Front seat folding issues

This morning I tried looking into why my front seat wasn't folding forward like it should. This Jeep is new to me, so I looked at the passenger side seat which looks to have a mechanical latch that folds things up nicely. The drivers side has a completely different mechanism using a cable, which after much frustration was found to be broken. I managed to pull it out safely with only one bloody knuckle after completely removing the seat. Where can I source such a cable, and why the hell are there two different mechanisms for driver and passenger? seems like a cable is the weak design....

The first pic is of the passenger side mechanical seat with no cable that works fine. The rest are my drivers side.

You can activate the fold and tumble mechanism with the lever under the seat. You just reach under the seat and press down on the lever. Once you get it figured out, its fairly easy to use. It's not as convenient as a working pull tab/cable, but it's not as big of a PITA as replacing a broken cable.

I haven't the slightest clue. I don't know the part number either.

I'd probable refer to it as a seat adjustment cable.

This is one of those things you'd actually have to find a wrecking yard with a TJ in it, call them up (or go there) and explain to them exactly what you're looking for. That's going to be the best way to find it.

Thanks. Curious if the passenger seat and driver seats can be swapped? The mechanical release on the passenger side works every time...

I assume the only issue would be the seat belt attachment point.

Does anyone know how to adjust the cable or cables so that my tumbler on passenger side of an 05' works better? When I pull the handle it releases, but then you have to really pull on the seat back to get it to tumble forward. I suppose the cables stretch just like bike brake cables, and that might be the problem. But i don't know if there is an adjustment somewhere. Driving me crazy after 3 years.

The cable can be replaced with bicycle shifter cable. I fixed mine and then the upholstery shop broke it and I haven't fixed it again. I just reach under and press the lever now.
