Fuel Injector Question

I’m replacing the stock fuel injectors with Bosch injectors. 2004 Rubicon with 4.0. They came packed with a clear plastic collar on the end that goes into the intake. The stock injectors didn’t have that collar. Is that a packing protector that keeps the injector from being damaged in shipment or does it stay on the injector? It comes off if you pry gently. I enclosed a picture of the new (green) injectors with and without the plastic collar beside the old injector. It seems to me that a plastic collar would melt but I’m not sure.

Yup that cap comes off!

Lube those o-rings when you install.

Replacing my fuel injectors was one of the cheapest and easiest things I’ve done to my Tj. I did a heat shield upgrade while I was at it. I can’t imagine what a shop would have charged me

That and if it's a newer TJ a Schrader test valve...mine's on my 97 rail but newer TJs don't have a test port.

After looking at some previous posts that I didn’t find earlier, it seems you leave that plastic ring on the injector. It helps retain the O ring, regulates the heat the injector tip is exposed to and also regulates the fuel spray.
