Fuel pump/check valve gone bad

I have a bad check valve and my fuel pump only holds 44 psi at idle. What are my options? I would like to get a Bosch but they're NLA anywhere. I read about getting delphi but then I read that they usually only hold 44 psi. Is it possible for me to put in an aftermarket EFI pump like walbro or aeromotive, and a replacement check valve? I was also looking at doing this and installing an external FPR with a return going back to the filler neck.

44 psi should be an acceptable pressure for your 97 as long as it's constant. FSM states +/- 5 psi is good for the 97.

Yikes, that's expensive. For the cost of doing an aftermarket regulator like that + a custom fuel rail, I may as well do the LS swap pump.
