I am a new jeep owner (97 TJ). My question is does it matter with buying a new soft top i.e. getting one with panels for the half door or no panels for the full door if I plan on keeping my current panels. My back window zipper is broken so I want a top where I can close my back window and I found a few tops meant for full doors where mine is a half door jeep. That k you for your time.

Yes, If you have half doors, you need to get a soft top with a kit for half doors. The panels that attach to the roll cage that the stop top attaches to will be different and will not fit if you get the kit for full doors.

Noted thank you very much

With a factory soft top, there is no difference in the opening between full and half doors. The door surrounds work on both. I would assume the better tops like BesTop are similar.

My besttop NX fits with both soft doors and full doors without a single change. There is no difference in what you order. You can buy soft tops that come with half door uppers, but I don't think there is a kit that exists specifically for half doors or for full doors. At least I've never seen one.

What kits are we talking about?
