G2 Axles

I'm looking at a jeep soon that has front and rear G2 D44s with ARB lockers, I think they're out of business right? Any concerns with buying a rig with those axles? I remember something in the past about proprietary diff covers?

The Core axles do have a proprietary diff cover. We found many crates of them in Utah for a smoking deal but couldn't find a way around the monstrous front cover. Around 1500 for a NIB NOS crate 44 TJ front. Empty centers but had G2 Alloy shaft sets with.

Good deal, I’m tempted! If it’s the same dude, he also has gear sets for $100.

With as many as he has, I'm not sure why he won't get a cover made with a lower profile top section for TJs.

See if you can discern any differences between that cover and a normal Dana 44 cover.

Ok, so besides the bolt pattern being different, does anyone know what else is different about the core 44 axle? I.e. bearing sizes, internals etc

I don't know for sure but I can make some educated guesses based on their other stuff like the Currie housing HP Dana 60. Given that those are built with Set 10 Dana 44 shafts in 35 spline so G2 could use their own axle shafts in them, I would expect nothing different in their Dana 44 stuff with the exception of offering 30 spline as an option. It makes no sense to move away from standard Dana 44 bearings for the diff side since that would limit your options for lockers.

Shame on Polaris and the company they sold to that shut down a fairly good company like G2. I'm not particularly a fan but I hate to see customers left holding the bag.

I kind of like how the lower bolts don’t get ground away. What’s with the three segments on the lower surface? A sort of sliding surface?
