Good morning everyone,

Let me start by saying that I know this question comes up more often than anything else BUT I've searched and searched the forums and went deep into YouTube trying to find someone (anyone) with the same issue i'm having. As a matter of fact - I've decided to create an account here in hopes someone can lead me in the right direction.

I'm having trouble with a 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ X 4.0L Auto Trans Gauge Cluster.

I also have a 2000 TJ Sport 2.4L and fixed the gauges by cleaning the connectors and all has been well for the better part of 2 years. However the 2004 cluster made no difference after the same treatment.

SO - my gauge cluster does not light up and none of my gauges move, its almost like its fried. However, when I break out my voltmeter and check for power from the cluster harness (pin 12, pink wire with a white line), I get 12.6v. The only indication of life is a very weak turn signal relay clicking and the turn signal light on the cluster, no other cluster lights at all. I ran a scan diag and have no codes. I've cleaned the grounds in the engine bay, checked and cleaned the 10A fuse behind the glove box and also the one under the hood as well.

I've tried to reach out to local TJ owners and even the local scrap yard for a 2003-2004 cluster that I can swap in to test if mine is dead - but I live in the USVI and options are super limited.

Are there any interior grounds I should be looking for? The PO installed an aftermarket radio, which works perfectly, and the ground strap behind the cluster is missing, making me wonder if that is an issue as well but I've been told that was just to ground the factory radio...

I guess my question is, are there any interior grounds I should look for or is there a way to send power to the cluster to make it light up and maybe see the fuel gauge move?

My next step is to roll the dice and send my cluster to get repaired and hope that was the problem all along...

Thanks everyone for the advice, I'm looking forward to some possible solutions.

Spent a month in St. Thomas helping out after Irma and Maria. All my coworkers got Jeep rentals and I got an econoshitbox.

Might be a able to find something in Puerto Rico but yeah your options are pretty limited.
