Gauges don't work

Remove your instrument cluster and radio. Clean the ground wire behind it. Follow that wire and clean it’s contact also. See pictures.

This ccd radio bus signal. What does it need hooked to since my stereo is aftermarket.

IF I were to guess why that CCD bus connector is connected to the factory radio would probably be for the lighting dimmer function of the radio.
YES.... All of those black wires with the star washer are grounds and should be connected to that screw.... I have three wires connected to ground near the speaker on my 01. .

It is bolted to a stud on the firewall behind the dash panel...

Yes but I do not have the factory radio. So if it NEEDS plugged in, I need to know where to wire it.

My 01 TJ did not come with the factory radio; the SONY radio wiring was connected so poorly and the factory harness was butchered so badly that I had to remove the radio, radio pigtail and part of the factory harness to trace out wiring to figure out what the previous owner had done.

But yours does not have this ccd bus wires for the radio. Not even in 98 Had those radio ccd bus wires. I swear this was the first tj on the line in 96.

I understand the early years of TJs had wiring that was in its infancy in the development of the TJ and as the years went on the wiring changed.
In your Post 6 picture the Radio CCD wiring would go to a radio module on terminals 1 & 2 (IF EQUIPPED).

My 97 wrangler tests shows cluster working. Speed rpm fuel temp not working . Moved ground to arcing ground. Not sure where to go from here
