Great thank you. Please let us know how it works out for you, especially if you notice anything different when driving on the street in 2wd. It'd be nice to have another alternative to the No-Slip from Powertrax or the Aussie if it does well for you

Jerry
Will do, it’s all happening on Sunday.

Good morning guys, not sure if this reply will alert all who replied because mine doesn’t. The installed said the install went well. Although my front control arms should be adjusted and front end should be at least 1” forward. Besides that, I have to baby it for 250-500 miles and then change the oil.
I went with 5.13 gears, Torq Auto locker in front with chromoly shafts/u-joints and Grizzly Locker in rear. He and you guys warned me about the noises but mostly in sharp turns. The front is gonna take some getting used to and the Torq rep suggested a heavy gear oil and thick diff cover to help with the clunks. Luckily I bought some metalcloak front and rear covers for when I change the oil in 500 miles. Truly hope it helps the noise, especially from the front. If I didn’t know about the noises to follow, I’d think something broke in there.
I can really feel the rear almost push whenever I throttle. I actually like it, feel like I picked up an extra cylinder. She will become my daily driver so I get those 500 miles in to go wheelin. Let you guys know how it goes after break in and oil change. I plan on using Lucas heavy duty oil for the fluid change.

Sounds to me that you need a locker and a LSD for the snow. Auburn Gear makes an Elocker that performs as a LSD when not engaged. I have no experience with this company, if they are junk or not? maybe someone else can chime in here?

Sorry, I didn't go to the last page before posting this, so I'm going to repost in general discussion, cause I am now curious about Auburn Gear. Hope all works out well with your upgrades.

All you need to do when flat-towing is shift the Atlas tcase front/rear levers into neutral and the transmission into Park if it's an automatic or if it's a manual just shift into any forward gear like 1st gear. That prevents the transmission from being spun when it's not being lubricated properly as happens when being flat-towed with the tcase in Neutral.
Jerry, can you flat tow an atlas or will the aft bearing run dry like the dana 300?

I'm not an Atlas guy but since its front and rear output shafts can be shifted into Neutral I'd think flat towing would be a non-issue for it.
Yeah, I used to assume that with the CJ's but they had a problem with oil starvation on the rear output bearing, several burned down due to lack of lube. I wonder if the atlas has a slinger?

The Dana 300 tcase has that problem which is only curable by welding paddles to the output shaft. It's a non-issue with a transfer case that can shift its f/r output shafts to Neutral.

Hello Forum, I am listening to you guy @Jerry Bransford and going with 5.13 gears for my 2004 LJ Auto Non Rubicon to go along with my 35's. I bought an automatic Torq Locker for my front Dana 30 and planned on using my Rear Factory LSD (Trac Lok). My gear guy recommends keeping the LSD and going with an air locker in the front. I don't ike the idea of dealing with an air compressor and the price really increases but while he's in there it crossed my mind. I am new to wheeling and do not plan on going anywhere crazy. But I want to be able to go a lot of places and not have problems. Only one guy in my crew has both lockers, one with a rear locker because he bought it that way and everyone else is on open Diffs. I was mostly trying to make my Jeep more capable in case I got into a tough situation. But then I considered keeping the Auto front locker and getting an Air Locker in the rear but feel like I might not be able to justify it's use. Assistance please, what do you guys recommend? Thanks
I installed front and rear E-lockers. Love them

I have elockers in 44's on a YJ, along with the 4.3 atlas, 4.6 stroker, its a hoot to drive but It is getting long in the tooth and needs some TLC now.

If I could’ve justified the e-lockers I would of. But I like the idea of having to do nothing but shifting into 4H or 4L. However, the knocks, clunks and bangs will definitely get your attention 😳

A selectable locker like the E-Locker or ARB doesn't cause those issues.

I know Jerry, if I didn’t spend $2k on the death wobble upgrades and another $2k on armor then I would have gotten at least one E-Locker with the gears. For now I will go through the break in period. Change to heavier oil, replace my diff covers with Metalcloak covers and hope it’s not so noisy. Prettyaure it will not help the noticeable engagement when going from Reverse to Drive but It’s only been 24 hours so I’m hoping to get used to it.

Dana 44 rear E locker- Love it
Dana 30 front Tru trak - it’s been okay, would prefer E locker. The video made an interesting point on driving technique to trick the trutrak into locking up with an airborne wheel. In the manual touch the parking brake briefly to engage the lock. Will have to give this a try tomorrow on the rocks if needed.

Parking brake trick will have no effect on a Truetrac in the front.
