I have a 2001 Sahara which recently started making a metallic grinding noise from the front right. The noise is constant while driving but does get louder when the brakes are applied. Upon inspection after pulling the tire and spinning the wheel by hand the noise was very clearly coming from the caliper/pads. The pads had a good amount of life left so I just cleaned the rotor and pads and placed them back on but this did not solve the problem. I also checked the backing plate and it was not bent/did not have rocks or debris stuck behind it or the rotor. I also jacked up the other side and compared it by spinning it and there was no noticeable difference in how easily it spun vs the right side. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this noise?
