Help diagnosing grinding noise

Also have update other mechanic at transmission shop said it was a bad transfer case. But now the noise has stopped. I drove it for a little while trying to figure out where noise was coming from and all of a sudden it stopped. Don’t know if oil just didn’t go through all of transfer case but it’s not making noise anymore

Also, that's good news. Whoever replaced it the first time may not have added enough fluid. This shop may have diagnosed it and then topped it off. But it's hard to say. May be worth dropping the fluid that's in it and check for metal and then top off with the proper amount of quality ATF to know where it's at.
