Has this already been discussed? Yes.
Are 1,000,000 posts on this? Yes.

I’m just trying to validate my thinking, approach and next steps here, so lemme know if I’m way off base.

Situation: hard to shift when hot, fine when cold, helps a bit if I pump the clutch. No slipping, skipping, smells, or power loss. Just tough to get it in gear, but not out. '04 Rubicon 170,000 miles w/ oiginal NV3550, don’t know if clutch has ever been replaced.

detail: First thing in the morning, all gears are easy, no double clutching or clutch pumping necessary. But about three weeks ago, First and second gear (once motor is hot) started requiring significant effort. pumping the clutch and double clutching help.

Approach: checked the Clutch fluid level: right where it should be. should I flush the clutch system next or just replace the master/slave unit? If that doesn’t work, I’m taking her to the shop because at that point I’m assuming it’s throw out bearing, new clutch, rebuild season.

Thanks in advance!
