Has anyone added a remote start?

I have an 04 rubicons automatic transmission is it difficult to put on a remote start Has anyone done this

I have the same Jeep. Mine had a compustar unit on it already. The previous owner had electric lock barrels added to the doors so that they could be locked/unlocked via the remote. The unit works good.
Any decent shop that does these installs should be able to do the install with there eyes closed compared to new vehicles in my opinion.

I have soft top and soft uppers so door lock's are irrelevant just saed someone will steal it while the wife is waiting for it to warm up on these cold morning

Let us know how you feel about it when it fails to start your Jeep! And leaves you stranded and not wanting to start with a key.

If you have access to a power outlet near where you usually park, consider a block heater ($30) and a 120 volt cab heater ($100). Once it's set up, just plug it in the night before into an outlet timer set to an hour or two before you leave. Then when you leave the engine is already warm, the windows defrosted, and the cabin warm.

Add in some 12 volt seat heaters for like $60 and you'd be set

Those in cab heaters don’t work at -20 or colder, bearings and bushings seize up and fan won’t run.

I have a remote starter in my 97 auto. (in fact, this is my 2nd one)
Both times I did not personally install it - free install came with it - although they did screw it up this last time, but I also had grounding issues.

Mine new system has great range, and I even splurged for the cell service - so I can start my Jeep from anywhere in the world if my cell has access. It also has a GPS locator, so eases my mind when I'm out of town.
(Just don't let your wife/gf's/bf's/etc know about this feature...)

Not sure I understand what I quoted correctly, but regarding the stealing it part: I remotely start mine, but it automatically shuts down if someone steps on the brakes without the physical key in the ignition (and maybe the gas?, transmission change in general? - never tested it...I just know it shuts down when I forget to put in the key. I also know it on't start with the hood up - for safety reasons, which is good, because I've accidentally bumped my remote control a couple times when leaning in the Jeep).

Note: The engine is on to warm up, but things like my cigarette lighter isn't on, so my seat heaters don't turn on until I physically put the key in. (I'll wire it permanently in sometime later...)

Fun note: the remote starter saved my butt when my starter motor started failing. The gentle hammer from underneath did the trick...but you need to have someone try starting the Jeep while you do that.

So luckily I had the remote starter while I was underneath the Jeep.
