Hey everyone!

I'm currently travelling abroad, and back home my wife went to use the TJ, and we can't locate the key ANYWHERE. We've turned the house upside down. I only had one key (dumb me, I know), and it was getting a little worn anyway, so we'd like to replace the key.

The TJ has no chip in the key, so this should just be 'cut a new key from the VIN' - are there online places that do this? (That would seem like a terrible idea, but I'm just seeing what I can do). I can probably just call a local locksmith, I assume they'll need to see a title? Or should I go to my local Chrysler / Fiat / whatever dealer and ask them to make a new key?

Thanks very much!

(Deets: it's a 2000 TJ Sport 4.0 - a quick online decoder check showed my VIN is correct for the specs...

I found a guy who came to me and cut it. Just needed proof of ownership (registration). Been using the keys ever since. Usually some type of locksmith. It’s an old school method for sure. I’m in NC.
