Did you look at the camshaft gear to see if there’s any damage?

I saw only the slightest scarring.

Having installed the new Crown OPDA am I right that I should take the camshaft position sensor off the old one and replace the one on the new unit?

Ok I changed them out and took it for a test drive. Yesterday I drove it with the Crown cam sensor and no check engine light came on. I changed it out an hour ago and took it for a drive with the old sensor and it threw a code. P-0016. What should I do? Should I put the one that came with the new crown unit back on?

I put the new sensor back on and the code went away.
