Hello!
I'm having an issue with my '98 TJ that I am really hoping is a simple fix.
I jumped in the TJ one morning to head to work and it wouldn't start, it would just turn over and over but never fire up. After some troubleshooting, I found that the 4 wires going to the fuel pump had been sheared off at the connector on the harness side. I thought, "Too easy, just splice new cable on and replace the connector." Well, after doing just that, I still have no fuel going to the engine. The fuel gauge is working again, and when the key is turned to ON, I hear the fuel pump prime. The issue I am having is I think the harness is aftermarket because the wire colors don't match the wiring diagram, so I don't know what the hot wire to the pump is.

Anyone have any testing I can do to figure out why the engine isn't firing?

Here's a snippet of your FSM and the colors going to the pump - maybe you got the power & ground backwards on your new harness?

This is the information that I have in my Haynes manual and what I have found online. The harness on my TJ has the following 4 cable colors; GN/WH, BU, GY/YE, BK.

Hmm, if your TJ doesn't line up with the diagrams in the FMS then I'd suggest checking for continuity to figure out what your hot wire is from the fuel pump relay, or you can also check for voltage when you first put the key in the 'run' position

SO I'm kinda in the same boat, however i currently have a 2003 TJ that i stretched. I bought the Motobuilt Tank but that requires the 2005-06 fuel pump. Problem is the Harness for an 03 doesn't fit into an 05-06. So i think what i should do is take a harness pigtail and solder them together.. But i need to verify is there's an adapter before i start cutting. THe 03 does have more pins than the 05 .. so it may be confusing..

Any help would be great, thanks.
