Help with sub-woofer wiring

Had a blown center-console sub-woofer so I decided to replace it with a Kicker 48CWRT672. I was thinking this would be a straight forward, plug-n-play swap out. Not so much... at least for me.

The stock sub-woofer had 4 wires & so assumed I'd just need to install those same 4 wires to the new sub. I understand this should be wired in parallel, however the stock speaker didn't appear to have been. I don't know anything about electrcity or wiring except for basic stuff.

Is that the case & can anyone tell me which wires go to which terminals?

Anyone have a photo or diagram they can share?

Are you using the stock amplifier? If so, start in series. 4 ohm might still be a bit low for it to drive, but it might work for a while. If you have an aftermarket amp, if it is 1 ohm stable, generally you would wire the two voice coils in parallel.

The OEM sub amp is very weak
I would stongly advise an aftermarket small amp while you are in there. Allegedly oem setup for a 1ohm load. This may help

Thanks for the replies guys. Now reconsidering getting another amp. The link above was very helpful as well as well Ranger Rick's write up link. I'd come across a version of Jerry's comments from another web search, but the various links are starting to help me understand the whole set-up a little better. Never been an electronics or audio guy. I make things out of metal so this is all new to me.
