I guess I should have found this part of the forum first...but there was so much cool stuff to check out!!
Hi!! I've recently moved my family to the mountains of East TN. near Chattanooga after living in Western KY. for the last 18 years. Loving it here, so far. So much of the outdoorsy stuff I'm into around here.
A little about me, I've kinda led an unconventional life. After spending 4 years in the Air Force during Desert Strom, I came home to Southern Indiana and worked for my uncle's HVAC business, until I was ready for something else. Which, turned into working in other industries, driving a truck over the road, working as a deckhand on a river barge, and then finally opening my own custom paint business in the early 2000's. I airbrushed and painted helmets, Harley's, cars, trucks...you name it, I sprayed it.
I eventually burned outdoing that and the 2008 economy didn't help matters much, So, my wife and I decided I should stay home and raise the kids and work on my fine art...which I'm still doing to this day. Yes, she works outside of the home. I've been blessed.
My current Jeep is a '98 Sahara which I bought with only 60000 miles on it. It came from Florida and was garage kept and was in great shape. But, the rear diff. bearing went out shortly after driving it for awhile. I repaired that in 2016 and have had no issue. It made a long trip to West Texas to Big Bend NP and back and I daily drive it and use it as my plein air painting rig. What is plein air painting, you ask? I'm oil painter, so I load up my gear in a backpack and go set up somewhere and paint in the great outdoors like the French Impressionist back in the day.
Ok, that's my story...here are some photos. Sorry for the novel.
My Old CJ-7, which I drove while in the Air Force, then modded afterward. Scout Dana 44's, T-18 4spd/300transfer case, 304 V8, 40 inch Swampers.
Then I built an S-10 Blazer, left engine and trans, transfer stock with Old Bronco Dana 44 front and Ford 9inch rear. Oh, cut the top off of it too. Had fun for a while.
I've had other Jeeps over the years, A J-10 truck, 1990 Cherokee, 2005 Grand Cherokee, 1980 CJ-5, and now the '98 Sahara.
Here are some more pics of my old custom paint days.If you want to see my latest artwork, just check out my website in my profile. Thanks for indulging me.
