I just picked up another Wrangler...99 Sport.
This is my second TJ.




Rebuilt engine but it needs some work. A little rust here and there, nothing major. Check engine light is on, no fan for the heat/AC, top is worn but serviceable. Fog lights don't work and I've already experienced Death Wobble once. Peed a little. I forgot how much fun that was.
I've already fixed a starting issue, replaced some missing parts and scraped most of the mud from the engine compartment.

The Plan:
I've got a set of stock running boards. I have a stumpy 11 year old that loves to ride in the Jeep. She just can't get in it without a boost.
18 inch JK Sahara wheels
Lose the 3 inch lift for stock suspension, or maybe just drop it down a little bit. I'm debating with myself. The current shocks and springs are rusted crap-o-la.

I'll be doing most of this stuff myself, so I'll be brain picking ya'll. Especially about the lift removal.

Here's my first TJ, a 97 SE named Darth. I loved him, but wanted a 4.0
Since he was Darth, would my 99 be Skywalker?

Looks good! Is it a world of difference going from the 2.5 to the 4.0?

Oh heck yeah.

It's a huge hill with a steep grade. I'd have poor old Darth in third with my foot on the floor and barely make 55 mph merging into a 70.
I'd had a 98 XJ with the 4.0 that made it easy. I liked the 2.5, but I live out in the 'burbs and wanted a little more oomph so I can use the Wrangler as an occasional daily too. Lot's of big hills out this way and the 2.5 wasn't really a good fit for a 30 mile commute with tractor trailers bearing down on me at 80. Eeek.

That's another reason I'm probably going back to stock suspension and more road-friendly wheels and tires.
