I was headed up for last day of the archery season and hit this poor fawn. I'm just glad it wasn't the mother or I would have been looking for a new front end. Only damage was to the bumper.

I hope you at least picked it up and made a meal out of it. That's what rednecks here in the south do. If it has a huge rack, they cut it's head off on the spot, mount it and lie to their friends about how they shot it. I drive back roads at night for my job and have hit 6 deer this year alone, Luckily they actually ran into me and bounced off. No dead deer and no body damage so far.

I’ve never hit a deer with a car knock on wood but I did have a deer run into the side of me on a motorcycle one time. I saw it way ahead of time and got slowed down, I was going about 15 and it was kind of running along next to me and then it just about jumped in my lap. I didn’t go down though.

Totally off topic but this is one of my favorite deer videos, it was a helmet cam during a race....

We're out here deep in the rurals and the first day of buck last year, which is the day after Thanksgiving, I was walking my dog up the driveway in the early morning and there was an 8 point dead off to the side. Apparently someone hit it and it made it this far and dropped, so I got an 8 point on the first day and I don't even hunt :) . Anyway I got him into the front-end loader and took him up behind the house and buried him. Poor guy.

I hit a 6-pointer in my '66 VW beetle on the way back to base in central California when I was a kid. It completely caved in the front of my bug.

Had to be 40 years ago I was going up Cresson Mountain (painfully slowly) in western Pennsylvania in my first '69 beetle. A tractor trailer was coming down the hill toward me and hit a deer just as we were about to pass. The deer shattered all over the front of the beetle, thankfully not breaking anything, but the gore was horrendous. Probably just my perception but that car always had the smell of death after that.
