Hood prop rod holder

Our Jeep never had one, so not even sure how the clip is supposed to mount. I bought a replacement spring steel clip that broke when trying to put it into the hole that I thought it should go in. Anyone have a picture of how the clip mounts/works? How about the later models? They use a little plastic clip? can that be used on early TJ's?

Thats a really nice design. Much better than the metal clip. That's a pain.

So the ebay link said it should fit, but our hood does not have the rectangular hole for this style of clip so buyer beware.

I decided to design my own and during my search online of how the original clip mounts, I came across this one in Thingiverse that uses the original hole for the spring clip:

Yes however the square hole in the hood is way too large for that ebay item.

The later models that use the square hole has two square holes. You have to put it in the right one. The (Ebay) clip worked fine on my 06.
