How do I remove the tailgate?

Need to remove tailgate for rust repair at bottom seam, preferring not to fight removing those pesky torx screws, is it possible to leave hinge mounted on body and just remove the hinge pins?

Can the pins be driven out fairly easily? Tips?
Drive pins upward to remove?
I imagine they are straight or slightly tapered toward the bottom

It has been a while since i pulled mine off to put the exogate on but can't you pull brackets off the body side? That's what i just do when i pull the tailgate with the exo.
