How long do shocks last

I have had the Rancho RS5000x shocks on my tj For 4 Years. It’s somewhat of a daily driver and trails once a month.
When should I change my shocks out? & what are some telL-tell signs they are bad ?
My ride over rough road is feeling kinda like a log truck now a days.

Do the bounce test on each corner. If the shock stops the Jeep from bouncing in 1 or 2 cycles they are still working fine.

The stock OEM shocks were on my 23 year old TJ when I put the Ranchos on. Of course, they weren't doing a really good job, but like said above do the bounce test.
