How should I report a cracked windshield?

Cracked windshield on the new ride when I bought it. Can I use insurance for this? I have never had a cracked windshield where I couldn't repair it myself and with my insurance saying they pay for it, is there a certain way I should file a claim? I don't want to lie but I also don't want my premium to go up or oh a deductible for a no fault crack. Btw it's too long to repair.

Many companies have a windshield deductable for just such occasions. Mine is 100 and I have used it 5 times now. Saved me a bunch of coin. It changed nothing to my ins rates with two different companies.

What state are you in? I'm afraid to make a claim because as soon as I do I'm trapped haha. I can't back out and say nvm I don't have a crack anymore now that I know I have to pay $200

In Florida, its mandatory for insurance company's to fix it at no cost. I've have several replaced over the years.

Check your policy and see what your deductible is. Then decide if it's worth it.

Just call your agent. They should be able to tell you what will happen without "filling a claim"

Call SafeLite Repair. They can usually tell you what your insurance will cover if you ask. They also have a discounted "cash" price if you don't want to file a claim (insurance company's discounted rate". They use mobile trucks and can come to you 9-5. Note: All shops will use non OEM glass unless you demand OEM. My insurance guarantees OEM replacement parts, but its an extra hassle.

Just called insurance. To repair the windshield is free but wisco has no laws requiring them to do anything lol so they said for a full replacement I would need to pay the $500 deductible [emoji23][emoji23] safe lite it is

$500 is quite high for "Comprehensive" deductible; usually $100. I'd ask about lowering that. It may only be a small increase in monthly premium. Worth asking...

I am in NY and glass coverage is extra on the policy, but when you use that there is no deductible.
