How to remove a TJ door panel?

OK, looks pretty simple to straight forward to remove a few screws on the door latch and panel but what is best way to remove the window crank? I've pulled and pryed around to see if I could see whatz holding it on but really don't wanna break anything. Advice?

There is a clip on the back of the window crank that requires a special tool. Yes, there are other ways but the tool makes it so easy.

The picture shows the tool and what the backside of the window crank looks like. The clip is partial unseated in this picture. The clip can be installed either way but usually the factory has the open end opposite of the knob. I think...

Just go to any auto parts store and pick up a "window crank removal tool", they are inexpensive for the aggravation they save. They work on older GM vehicles as well if they have manual windows.

BTW: You don't need Snap On. That tool was issued to me a long time ago. Also, watch for the clip to go flying into a hiding place.

OK guys thanx a million ... that is the same clip that was on my first car ... 1955 Chev Nomad Wagon. Thought about it when I was digging around on it .... but thought no way 44 years later but yep ... still held in place with the same fastener. The ol 'well if it aint broke' ..

An old trick: Grab a shop rag, fold it in half, then fold it in half again so you have a long narrow 4-ply strip. Feed it under the handle, pull it tight with both hands and then towards the spline shaft. Wiggle it by pulling it back and forth against the wire ends of the clip. Handle usually pop's right off.

Awesome trick. Just got around to trying. It works better than the tool I bought.
