I’ve got a confession...

I can’t confirm or deny that 150mph is easily achieved and that the 911 wants to keep going. [emoji51]

Texas is a big state. I'm sure you could have found a stretch to open her up a bit? Yes?

It's no Porsche, but my wife and I went for a nice drive yesterday. It holds its own over the mountain roads ok.

That’s a beautiful car.

There are plenty of flat open roads to open her up on but the state troopers just love to write tickets on speeders.

It works... the law, I mean. The punishment of getting caught doing 150mph+ is a great deterrent.

That ticket would be astronomical.

Here in Cali, if they catch you doing double the posted limit, you and your ride get rolled up to the slammer. Not worth it. glad I drive a jeep.
I can get the same thrill doing 3 mph.

yep both the Porsche and Nissan above are cool....Still want the Porsche. When you do the oil change they suggest you cut the old filter to inspect for metal...that is a sure early sign that the IMS is on it's way out. I would probably do what you are doing and wait. If I get a tiptronic auto they need to remove the engine as well to get to the IMS so I will take my chances.

Enjoy it!

I was reading a pretty optimistic report that it’s more like 1% of them with IMS failures. The one from Porsche said 8% or so.

I’m scheduled this February to get the IMS Solution kit. It’s a permanent fix and for about $5000 I get the kit plus an oil separator and bunch of other stuff.

And you thought the jeep was a money pit! Yikes!

No the Germans have jeep beat by a mile, My wifes c300 benz has an "A" and "B" alternating service. The A is basically an inspection and oil change, the B is oil change, replace air and 2 cabin air filters, brake fluid flush, tire rotation. The dealer gets around $6-$700 for the B, I ordered all OEM fluids and parts for about $125 (oil is only mobil one and uses just under 9 qts in a 4cyl turbo). Also bought the motive pressure brake bleeder to change the brake fluid with out blowing an abs code for another $135. ...not paying dealer prices.

I consider it long term preventative maintenance. Once that is done, the engine should be otherwise bulletproof. It includes a new RMS, oil change, filter adapter to be able to use Bosch screw on, oil/air separator, and a few other things. It’s not that bad for all the stuff they’re doing. It’s about 20 hours of labor.

even after the 5K for the work, you probably have well under 30K in the car that will compete with 100K sports cars, Can't wait to get in one myself once I get rid of some toys to make the room...problem is it seems most are silver and that color does nothing for me in a 911!

Oh I almost bought a silver 911 Twin Turbo for $38000 out the door. 60k miles, good shape...

The one I got was about $10,000 less and had 23,600 miles and was in better shape - just no turbo.

Still hauls total ass!

Oh to elaborate, I’m switching to the IMS Solution so I don’t ever have to worry about getting it bearing changed out. If I ever need another clutch I can do it myself or take it to a regular mechanic. I’m not that enthusiastic about having to take it to the only certified place 4 hours away to get it done again in 75k miles... if they’re even around.
