If the phone battery dies (say it sits for a month), same thing except it has to boot first when the key gives it power?

My only concern around here is that phones often turn themselves off due to the cold weather. It would work fine after the Jeep heats up though! If you don't mind I may copy your design and still use physical gauges for essentials for those cold winter days.

Correct, I have drilled a tiny hole on the side where power button of the phone is so I can turn it on/off manually when needed.

Initially I thought about putting in a tablet in there but scratched that idea for the same reasons you mentioned.

Which ODB/bluetooth module did you get? I have one, but it is flaky on the bluetooth connection and I know it would not work if i were to set it up as you have it?

So, in other gage related stuff...do you have a link for your analog gauges?

My other project, a 1978 GMC motorhome could use some real gauges. It doesn't have a tach or voltmeter and no values on the temp, oil pressure, etc. Looks like this. Lots of real estate, and people do all kinds of stuff, but I like the simplicity of the two dials and those would work perfect! Only extra gage I would need then is a transmission temp

I got mine from Amazon too. Maybe i need to get a different one. Also Speedhut is the way to go for gauges.

Wow those gauges look great. Is that the Auto Meter dash?

Yea it is. IMO it is overpriced, the outer gauges are blocked by the steering wheel making them hard to read. You can kind of tell by the first picture of the gauges. It is nice to have all of the signal lights in there like original. There is no instructions, so you have to cut stock harness, get wiring diagram out and determine what wire feeds what. Some stuff like 4wd and brake light have floating grounds, and the signals are powered signal. I never took a shot of the harness I made, but a lot of time tracing everything out. Also when you do that you loose the chime which is built in dash. I am going to install a programmable buzzer to replace the stock unit.
