Input on this Jeep?

So I am still on the hunt for a Jeep since the one I was looking at and planned on going to get sold. I came across this one on FBM and it peaked my interest. what are your thoughts on this one? I was orig looking for a more stock Jeep and building it my way but this one has a ton of decent stuff done to it.

Frame looks patched in the very last photo. judging by the poor roll cage work and cheap front bumper, I'm not sure I'd trust the engine swap to be well done. The steering is the only upside.

I'd pass.

Rusty, worse than it looks in the pictures i would bet. Overspray on the grill gives you an idea of the "attention to detail" this owner takes in his projects. Would be worth a look for the price if its close to home, but don't get your hopes up. I bet it has some "quirks" and some undisclosed rust. Wonder why no underhood picture on a V8 swapped Jeep? Bet it looks like a rats nest of wires and backyard engineering.

yeah now that i am looking at it more and more it looks like its going to have lots of qwerks. it is tough to find a decent automatic Tj under 7k within the rust belt lol.

I don't know much about cages but I've never seen one braced like that at the A-pillar and I think that with the bend in the tube like that, it would fold if there was ever an incident.

Thanks, missed it the first scroll through. Looks better than I would have guessed, AC is hooked up even. Still the rust is a major turn off. It's the only thing I never would want to fix myself. Like I said, if its close, its worth a look. Just pay close attention to that frame.

It's far from close 8hrs one way. What also has me wondering is the use of the 46RE trans that trans is huge, with that said i am guessing that the rr ds is under 10" in length.

That unfortunately is the curse of the rust belt and my 7k and under budget for my initial purchase.

You could alway ask for more pictures. When I bought my Jeep I requested pics and didnt get them. It was at a dealership 4 hours away. I called a sales guy and said "I have a certified check for full asking price in hand, but I am not driving 8 hours round trip without detailed pics". 30 mins later I had 60 HD pictures flooding my text messages and the salesman sold a Jeep. Be specific when you ask.

I called a sales guy and said "I have a certified check for full asking price in hand, but I am not driving 8 hours round trip without detailed pics". 30 mins later I had 60 HD pictures flooding my text messages and the salesman sold a Jeep. Be specific when you ask.

Oh I did that ( asked for more detailed pics) with another TJ earlier this week. the salesman orig told me to come in for a test drive. I was like yeah... that is not happening i live 1200 miles one way away from you. and i actually never recvd the pictures so they lost a sale.

Spring buckets rusting off, ghetto patched frame, questionable V8 swap? This Jeep is a pretty open and close case of junk in my opinion.

Maybe if you want to tow it to the dunes and blast around it might be a fun Jeep. I just wouldn't expect anything reliable or road-worthy to come out of buying this.

the one i was dead set on but did not move quick enough on was an 06 sport rust free both frame and body it was in Iowa. they sold it the day after I was talking to the salesman. With my Job i cant just drop everything and drive 12hrs one way to get a vehicle, i need to plan stuff.

that it does but i think it may actually be too much jeep for what type of wheeling i do which is mainly trails with the occasional trip to the local ORV parks.

I agree with the lack of finishing details. The first thing I noticed was the radiator support. Had a V8 swap which requires removing the front clip. But didn’t even take the time to take care of the rusty V support in front of the radiator. It was the first thing I painted when I took the front clip off. Done and out of the way.
