Once again I have an intermittent high RPM issue, seemingly coinciding with cooler weather. Started and immediately revved to 3000 RPM. After a couple more tries it backed off to 2000 then back to normal idle. When I drove it, the throttle would stick open at 25mph in 3rd gear and jeep was literally driving itself, but when I tapped the throttle it backed off and slowed down like it should.
This happened about a month ago after it rained & cooled off real quick, but in the intervening weeks I've had absolutely no issues with the throttle. It's 62 degrees this morning, the coolest it's been since spring here in coastal Virginia.
Vacuum leak is always the first thought but wouldn't a vacuum leak continue to be a vacuum leak in the weeks between these two events? Would the cooler weather exacerbate a leak in one of the lines? This is where I'm confused and frustrated.
