Hello guys,

Is there a guide on how to fix an XJ AX-15 on the TJ's transfer case? I know there's something about drilling different holes so that it aligns better?

Anyone? I'm desperate for this fix. I put my XJ's AX-15 on my TJ cause I'll sell it and the one on the XJ was in worse conditions than the one on the TJ (which is now riding on the XJ working ok, just some very small vibrations at high speeds)

TIA!

Depending upon what year XJ the AX-15 was removed from and what year TJ the AX-15 was installed into; there is a difference between different years and input shaft lengths and size. The AX-15 89-91 had a 19/32" pilot tip and the 92-99 had a 3/4" pilot tip....

There are re-clocking drill guides for sale on the internet. I believe Iron Rock Offroad has one. If you look at the tail shaft adapter housing on the trans, there are holes for the t-case studs and then a set of cast in dimples usually. You'll wind up drilling right where the dimples are to clock the case up.

I have a drill guide. You can pull the adapter housing off and send it to me and I'll drill it and ship it back. All it will cost you is shipping both ways. I used to loan the drill guide out but one day it never came home. So, I don't loan the new one I had made out any longer.

Thanks guys.

Here's the situation:

97 TJ transmission + TC were moved to a 98 XJ and vice versa.

The result is: on the XJ the shifter tower is super high inside the cabin, the car drives fine but with small vibrations at high speeds.

On the TJ the shifter is SUPER LOW and there are strong vibrations at slow speeds.

What am I looking at?

Again thanks for your help!

The only catch would be finding out what's the setup with the TJ's transmission as it's not from factory, the car used to be automatic.
