Is there something that goes in the ash tray hole for it to clip into?

My ashtray was missing the metal spring/clip. A very kind member sent me a replacement. It still will not stay in. Is there something that goes in the ash tray hole above the ashtray for it to clip into?

There’s a little plastic piece on top of the spring that secures it to a metal tab on the top part of the assembly where the ashtray is located. See attached pics.

Ok, my dash is missing the metal looking upper piece. How does it attach to the dash panel?

It has clips in the 4 circled areas. Not sure where you might find that piece other than a scrapyard.

I bought a replacement from Daveys Jeep. It just snaps right in.
