Shift into 4Hi and see if the steering gets noticeably wonky on the street after making a few turns. A front locker will make steering noticeably harder and it will buck during turns whenever you're in 4x4.
That's a relief, went to a shop to get a alignment, mechanic I hadn't met was trying to convince me I needed gears replaced and everything and he was surprised the axle hadn't fallen out, didn't sound right to me because my jeep drives great side from the tie rod ends that need replaced but that sound was new to me because I'd never jacked it up and turn the wheels to see what it sounded like because like I said, there was no indication of a problem.
