Hello everyone. First let me say thanks for accepting me into the forums. I am a new TJ owner as of today. Bought my first Wrangler a 98 4.0L auto. Runs great once warm. The gentleman I bought it from stated that it hesitates when cold which he is right on. When I put the gas pedal to the floor it stops. Any ideas on what this could be? Thanks in advance.

It may just simply be in need of a tuneup, but hopefully one of the guys with a lot more experience on it will come along and have more decisive answers, or suggestions. Good luck!

If this does it immediately upon startup and instantly runs that way I'd start with checking your fuel pressure.
KOEO (Key on engine off)
You should see around 50 PSI.
If it seems ok for the first 30 seconds or so on a cold start up then starts messing up I'd suspect your O2 sensor. (Upstream)
Thanks Chris. I haven't had it diagnosed yet. Also according to the previous owner said the "computer" was stolen and he had it "flashed" so it runs? Is this something I should fix soon as well?I assume it's not throwing any codes?
