Jeep showing misfires

Hello, so my 1997 Jeep tj has a brand new engine. Pressures are all good. Cranks right up however when driving it starts to sputter and will not accelerate. My mechanic replaced to crank shaft position sensor and he said so far so good but this was already replaced before engine was installed. Could it have been a faulty sensor or should I replace the computer?

Was your distributor properly timed? @mrblaine is the expert on use of the DRB tool to get that part of the process nailed to stop some issues like that.

Well, my mechanic said the jeep was ready so I picked it up and on the way home the engine was very loud. Whiny as if it was in a really high gear. Continued to sound that way and then the check engine light came on and the temp gauge went into the red. I hope my transmission isn’t on its way out. I knew this was going to happen. Fed up!!
