I have a Jeep Tj 1997. I spent 12,500 on it and its so fun to drive. I use it as my daily it has 183,000 miles. I recently had an issue with stuttering and a gas smell right after filling the tank with fuel. I got a check engine light and a stuttering only when accelerating. I went to the mechanic and he did a check on the check engine light and he said that it was the fuel injector 5. I paid 365 dollars to replace the fuel injector and the check engine light came back on and the stuttering continued. When I came back to the mechanic he checked the wiring that was connected to the fuel injector and said that it was possibly the pcm. Unfortunately for me, earlier the jeep did not stutter all of the time. Luckily for me when the mechanic hooked up to the pcm he drove the jeep and it stuttered. He saw that the pcm was malfunctioning. My mechanic called dealers and they no longer carry Mopar pcms. I decided to go to ebay and order my own pcm. I am going to change the pcm myself and hopefully that fixes the issue.
