Jeep VIN question

I'm currently looking at a 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport in Marietta. It's on FB marketplace. Pics show the sport sticker, the 4.0 sticker and he says it's a 4.0. However the VIN he posted with the Jeep says 1999 Jeep Wrangler SE with a 2.5. Can anybody clarify why this might be? Did they put 4.0 in SE's? VIN error?

It could have been an engine swap.

I pulled it up and they have no pics of motor. Ask them for some.

They have it on craiglist as a 4.0 Sport also. I bet that someone has just put the stickers on it and no engine swap.

1999... in 20 years anything is possible. Engine swap. Replaced a rusty frame.
Not all bad if the vehicle is solid and the workmanship is good.

But no, the SE only came with the 4 cylinder....
Maybe the VIN search engine made an error.
