Jeep wanders at 40 mph plus

What would cause the jeep to feel like it wanders/weaves/crab walks left and right down the lane? Its like I'm slithering down the road. Its not all the time but guessing certain types of road or condition of road triggers it.

I have new steering parts so its not worn parts. I'm guessing alignment but I've centered axle, set toe to ~1\8" and have ~6.5 degrees of caster.

Any ideas of what else to check?

did it start with the new steering? My first thought on thread title was toe-in but you said you set it to 1/8th. what method are you using to set it?

The other thing that comes to mind is rear axle not being located properly. maybe some loose joints in the rear?

I see you running a 3 link in the rear. Are you confident your rear axle is running true?

I had some wandering pre-steering replacement but I was able to dial it in with some caster and then it felt good from there.

I have a couple 1" long square bars that I attached to the outer center of front tires and then i used a tape measure to get numbers infront and behind tires.

I haven't done much with the rear axle other that replace bushings on upper tri link on frame side. That was a few years ago. Maybe its time to give it some more attention. By eye it looks to rest equally on both sides under the jeep.

I have a couple 1" long square bars that I attached to the outer center of front tires and then i used a tape measure to get numbers infront and behind tires.

I take a fat piece of chalk all the way around the center of the tire while turning, then have someone turn the tire by hand while I scribe a line with a screwdriver braced on a milkcrate. nice clean line right on the center gives you a true place to measure from. as long as you dont turn the tire as you scribe...

remove tires, reinstall lugs on the brake disks, clamp those 1" bars to the disks, measure from bar to the frame on both sides. that will tell you if its centered.

maybe ensure lowers are the same length while your back there... that might cause it to track wierd.

Since I don't have a tracbar in the back, I'm not sure I could do much about centering it if it does end up being off. Other than go with a different setup back there.

yeah I saw the 3 link and im thinking damn I hope full traction got it right...

idk... add a 4 link truss on top and some adjustable uppers?

lets hope it doesn't come to that...

Haha...Buying the kit isn't the problem, it's the installation cost.
I'm not sure I can afford Mrblaine to install and I'm no welder.
